They need inherent abilities such as the power to function on a team, under pressure, understand form and color, have an imaginative and creative mind, and excellent communication skills.
Most graphic illustration artist profiles require him or her to meet with clients, talk and spend time with them, so they have the basis and understanding of the visual requirements of that particular client. Once they have that foundation, it makes it far easier for the graphic illustrator to develop rough sketches and plans to present to the client for their approval.
