Computer repair refers to either hardware or software problems. The hardware on a computer is the systems physical parts such as hard drive, monitor, and motherboard. Software refers to programs which are installed on your computer system to make your computer work and comprised of both programs and an operating system. When doing computer repair, you need to figure out whether you have a hardware or software problem.

When the power button on a computer is pushed, the PC should immediately start to boot up. If the computer does not boot up after pushing the power button, check all connections and cables. Be sure to check the cable that goes from the motherboard to the power supply, the power supply cable, and the power button connection.

If your computer speed has progressively gotten worse, this often means your computer needs a disk defragment. Many systems, including Windows XP have a built in disk defrag utility. Running this will defragment your hard drive and increase the computers performance and reliability.
